Fluxlab is a collaboration between video artists Marcello Busato and Blandine Casen. Together, they develop live audiovisual environments for choirs, creating visual atmospheres that unfold in real time during performance.
Their work combines digital projection with analog live image processing, forming a hybrid installation practice that transforms the perception of space. Inspired by the structure and dynamics of the choir, this interaction generates spontaneous visual compositions that emerge in the moment.
So far, Fluxlab has realized three video installation works in collaboration with vocal ensembles:
Pentimenti (for Kammerchor Vocantare), Horizonte, and Réalités absurdes (for Vokalsystem).
Each project adapts to the specific identity of the choir and its sonic architecture, resulting in site-specific audiovisual performances where sound and image continuously influence each other.
Pentimenti – Kammerchor Vocantare
For Pentimenti, Fluxlab focuses on live video processes, using real-time filming of paintings created during the performance. The visual layer emerges directly from the act of painting, translating gesture and transformation into moving image.

Horizonte- Vokalsystem
For Horizonte, Fluxlab developed both the video installation and lighting design. The piece explores shifting spatial perception through the interaction between choir and live-generated visuals, where digital projection and live image processing form an evolving environment shaped by sound and rhythm.

Réalités absurdes – Vokalsystem
Für Réalités Absurdes haben sich die beiden Videokünstler:innen zusammengetan um den Chor “Vokalsystem” durch die Schaffung einer sich im Moment entfaltenden visuellen Atmosphäre zu begleiten. Gemeinsam schaffen sie eine hybride Installation, die digitale Projektion und analoge Live-Bildbearbeitung miteinander verbindet und die die Wahrnehmung des Raumes transformiert. Inspiriert durch den Chor erschafft dieses lebendige Zusammenspiel zufällige visuelle Momente.
